Welcome back! It’s been quite some time since I wrote a tutorial. Work and school and just life in general have made me quite busy but this week I have a few spare minutes. In this tutorial series we will look at special effects that you can create with JavaScript including rollovers, menus, filters and transitions. You can find the files needed for this tutorial here. Let’s get started!

New Work in Progress – Designs By Mom and Me
Latest News, New Projects, Web Design and Development No CommentsMy newest project, www.designsbymomandme.com, just got started tonight but the front page is almost done! Looking forward to putting some real effort into it tomorrow. Hoping to launch the project by late this week.
Made a couple of upgrades to my site today including changing the home page image to Pat’s site which I love the design of, adding pricing info to the site and creating a custom 404 page. Get lost on my site and check it out!
In the last part of the series we created an animated opening screen for our web page. The animation was optimized for a 640×480 screen resolution but what will happen to our animation when viewed on screen resolutions? As the screen sizes become larger, the images and text move towards the upper left part of the screen. We will use DOM properties to determine the screen resolution and use that to determine the positioning of our images and text.
In the last part of this tutorial, we were working on building functions to move our text around the webpage. In this part of the tutorial, we will use those functions to animate our web page. Many of these functions could be replicated with css but this will give us a chance to test the JavaScript functions that we created.
